Referral Process

Attorneys and legal professionals are welcome to contact our office to discuss referrals, case structure, or clinical consultation related to reunification therapy, parent child estrangement, & court involved family cases. Our practice maintains a child centered approach & communicates professionally with the court & involved professionals.

How to Refer a Case

Our practice provides structured reunification therapy services for families involved in high conflict separation, parent child estrangement, and court involved family matters. The following outlines the typical process for initiating services and beginning the reunification treatment structure.

Step 1: Initial Contact

An attorney, parent, or court professional may contact our office to discuss the case and determine whether the situation is appropriate for reunification therapy services.

During this stage, our team gathers general information about the family dynamics, current court involvement, and the presenting concerns related to parent child contact. This initial communication helps determine whether reunification therapy or another therapeutic service may be most appropriate.

Step 2: Intake Assessment

Each participating family member completes an individual intake session with the assigned clinician.

Separate intake sessions allow the therapist to understand each person's perspective, assess emotional readiness, and evaluate factors that may impact the reunification process. Intake sessions also allow the therapist to review treatment expectations and establish therapeutic boundaries.

This phase helps create a clearer understanding of the child’s emotional needs, family dynamics, and the level of conflict present between parents.

Step 3: Treatment Structure

Following the intake assessments, the therapist develops a structured treatment plan tailored to the needs of the child and family.

The treatment plan focuses on creating emotional safety for the child while supporting gradual and appropriate parent child contact. In many cases, the therapeutic process may begin with individual support sessions before progressing to direct parent child interaction.

The structure of therapy is designed to move at a pace that protects the child’s emotional wellbeing while allowing the parent child relationship to rebuild in a healthy way.

Step 4: Reunification Process

Reunification therapy progresses through structured therapeutic phases that support gradual reconnection between the parent and child.

Our practice utilizes the Quiroz Bridge Model, a phased reunification framework designed to stabilize the child’s nervous system, reduce emotional pressure, and support safe reconnection. The process may include therapeutic letter writing, structured communication, guided contact, and gradual increases in interaction as the child becomes more emotionally comfortable.

Each stage of the process focuses on rebuilding trust while maintaining emotional safety for the child.

Step 5: Ongoing Collaboration

When appropriate and when authorization is provided, our clinicians may collaborate with attorneys, minor’s counsel, and court professionals involved in the case.

Communication may include clarification of the therapeutic structure, discussion of treatment progress, or preparation of clinical documentation when authorized. Our goal is to maintain professional collaboration while preserving the therapeutic integrity of the treatment process.
